Totally Remote HR was founded in 2019 by Lindsay Hoag, an HR leader with fifteen years of experience across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Driven by a passion for building better workplaces, Lindsay started Totally Remote HR to help organizations build strong HR foundations that support growth and long-term success. Over the past six years, she has partnered with more than 14 nonprofit and for-profit organizations as a fractional Head of People—owning HR operations, not just advising on them.

Previously, Lindsay was Chief Administrative Officer for the Latin America and Global Business Products divisions at State Street Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, and held roles across Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Global HR Policy & Compliance. Before State Street, she worked at the Human Resources Policy Institute at Boston University, researching emerging HR practices and developing executive education programs for Chief Human Resources Officers at some of the world's largest companies. Earlier in her career, Lindsay was a Balanced Scorecard strategy consultant at Palladium Group and served in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, where she became fluent in Spanish.

Lindsay earned a BA with honors from Wellesley College and an MBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business.
